The Walls I Built

Description

The Walls I Built is an embroidery hoop artwork, structured divisions interrupting softer beadwork layers, with small tassels adding movement throughout, the composition shifting between control and release. I built those walls to feel safe. Over time though, safety started to feel like distance. This piece sits in that tension between protection and connection. Letting those walls soften can be frightening, but it's also the only way to be truly seen.

Part of my Sparkle Series exploring the inner experiences that shape everyday life but are often kept private, this piece is entirely one of a kind. Presented in an 8.8 x 8.8 cm wooden embroidery hoop, colourful wall art ready to hang or display on a shelf, created in my Melbourne studio.
