The Things I Didn't Choose is a maximalist beaded textile artwork, contrasting materials and beadwork coexisting across the surface, heavier elements balanced with open space. So much of life is shaped by things outside our control. Where we begin, what we inherit, what happens to us along the way. I made this while reflecting on how we adapt to those realities. It's about acknowledging them without letting them define everything.

Part of my Sparkle Series exploring the inner experiences that shape everyday life but are often kept private, this piece is entirely one of a kind. Presented in a 22 x 22 cm wooden embroidery hoop, colourful wall art ready to hang or display on a shelf, created in my Melbourne studio.
