Story Behind the Piece

Miley came from the heart, literally. It is one of those motifs that carries so much meaning in such a simple form. I enjoy exploring what happens when you bring texture and glaze layering to a classic shape, how something familiar can feel completely new depending on what the surface does.

Artist Notes

I hand build each Miley from stoneware clay, cut to the heart shape and worked with texture stamps and layered underglazes before glazing and firing. After the second firing I attach the stud hardware by hand. With 9 designs there is a Miley for every mood.
