Introducing Emilia Botanica, a rounded square ceramic magnet from the La Luminosa collection. She features a hand painted blue flower with green leaves, considered and delicate on a creamy stoneware base. Sweet, full of character and completely one of a kind, handmade in Melbourne. Two neodymium magnets on the back so she stays put.

Story Behind the Piece

Emilia came from a desire to paint the kind of motifs I was drawn to as a child, birds, flowers, the simple things. The rounded square shape felt friendly and approachable, like a tiny tile from somewhere charming. I love the bird one especially.

Artist Notes

Each Emilia magnet is rolled, cut and hand painted using nail polish brushes for detail. Underglaze goes on before a clear glaze coat and firing. Two neodymium magnets are attached by hand after the second firing. The rounded corners are sponged smooth before the clay dries, it is one of my favourite parts of making these.

Handle with care as ceramic can chip if dropped
Wipe clean with a soft damp cloth
Do not submerge in water
The magnet is strong but avoid hanging heavy items from it

About the Series

La Luminosa means "the radiant" in Italian. This collection started with one thing, my love of sparkle and reflections of light. I wanted it to feel light and airy, a culmination of my exploration of new materials in the Summer of 25/26.
