Everly Ceramic Triangle Necklace

Description

A geometric triangle pendant hand built from recycled stoneware clay, layered with a blue-green speckled glaze and pressed with a botanical texture that runs across the whole surface. She sits on a 50cm adjustable stainless steel chain and feels light and dainty to wear despite how considered she looks. Made by me in Melbourne. One of a kind, she won't be made again.

Story Behind the Piece

I've always been drawn to geometric shapes, the cleanness of them, the way they feel modern without trying too hard. With Everly I wanted to see what happened when I pushed against that cleanness a little, pressing a botanical texture into the triangle before it dried and letting the glaze settle into all those tiny grooves. The speckle came from layering glazes and seeing what the kiln did with them. She came out calmer and more interesting than I expected.

Artist Notes

Everly was hand built using a triangle cutter, then pressed with a botanical texture mat while the clay was still soft enough to hold the impression. I layered underglazes and speckled glaze over the surface using a fine paint brush, then applied a clear glaze over the top before the first firing. The blue-green tones and gold speckle developed through the layering process, the results are always a little surprising. After the second firing I assembled all the hardware by hand to complete the piece.

Care Instructions

Store in a dry place. Avoid contact with water, perfumes and lotions. Remove before swimming or showering. Clean gently with a soft dry cloth. Store separately to prevent scratching.

Everly is part of the ceramic jewellery collection at Samira Stephens Studio. Each piece is hand built and glazed individually in Melbourne, which means no two are ever quite the same. The ceramic jewellery range spans earrings, necklaces and pendants, all much lighter to wear than they look.
