Introducing Amara Shell, a large heart ceramic magnet from the La Luminosa collection. She features a hand painted blue shell framed inside a dotted heart border on a creamy stoneware base. Big enough to really show off the detail, sweet enough to give as a gift. Two neodymium magnets on the back so she stays put. One of a kind, handmade in Melbourne.

Story Behind the Piece

Amara came from wanting to give the heart shape more room to breathe. The larger format meant I could get more detail into each motif, more delicacy in the lines, more of the illustrative quality I was exploring. A heart that actually holds something.

Artist Notes

Each Amara magnet is rolled, cut with a large heart cutter and hand painted using nail polish brushes for the detailed motif work. Underglaze goes on before a clear glaze coat and firing. Two neodymium magnets are attached by hand after the second firing. The larger format is one of my favourites to paint because the motifs really get to shine.

Care Instructions

Handle with care as ceramic can chip if dropped
Wipe clean with a soft damp cloth
Do not submerge in water
The magnet is strong but avoid hanging heavy items from it

About the Series

La Luminosa means "the radiant" in Italian. This collection started with one thing, my love of sparkle and reflections of light. I wanted it to feel light and airy, a culmination of my exploration of new materials in the Summer of 25/26.
