The underglazes are applied at varying opacities and dilutions, some watery and transparent, some bold and direct. White marks sit over colour, colour sits over white. The clear glaze makes the whole surface glow. She sits between 2.5 and 4cm tall and looks beautiful with a single stem. The red and white together against the cooler purples and greens was intuitive, I was not planning it, just following the marks. She ended up feeling warm and alive and a little bit wild.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eArtist Notes\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eI threw Valentina on my tiny wheel and painted her in multiple layers, varying the water content of each underglaze to get different levels of opacity and movement. The white marks were applied over colour in some places and under it in others, which changes how they read.
