I walk those trails a lot and there is something about the colour of that place, the deep olive greens, the way the water goes blue and then brown and then green again depending on the light, that I wanted to carry into a piece. Layering the glazes was the only way to get close to it.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eArtist Notes\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eMirabel was hand built using an oval cookie cutter, then pressed all over with a botanical stamp while the clay was still soft. After cutting the hanging hole and sponging the edges smooth, I layered an olive green glaze and a blue glaze over the surface, letting them sit on top of each other so they would bleed and shift through the firing. The way the blue pools into the botanical grooves against the green ground is exactly what I was hoping for and a little more than I expected.
