The glaze is clear which lets all the colour and detail shine through, and the speckle clay adds beautiful texture underneath it all. She sits between 2.5 and 4cm tall and looks really cute with a single stem. I was experimenting with layering underglazes, seeing what happened when light colours sat next to dark ones, how the outlines changed the whole feeling of the piece. The palm tree motif appeared and I loved it, so she stayed. The painting happened in layers, building up colour combinations and motifs until the whole thing felt right.
